Maksim Zhaunerchyk is a product of Soligorsk football. He started playing for FC Shakhtyor Reserves in the home town in 2003. He was noticed by BATE scouts and in 2004 he moved to the Yellow-Blues. And already in 2005 was a part of the first BATE squad, gradually becoming a regular in Igor Kriushenko team.

Viktar Hancharenka, BATE's next head coach, contributed to Maksim's progress. Hancharenka knew the player's potential very well as he previously had been the Reserves coach and already had had perfect experience of working with Zhaunerchyk.

The player's strong sides are shrewd tackling, perfect understanding of the game. His shooting abilities from long range and scoring goals are well-known as well. Versatility of the player is also impressive: Zhaunerchyk was able to play in any position in the midfield, and playing in Russian premier league he also switched to full-back position and managed to play as a full-back in the Belarusian national team.

Zhaunerchyk participated in all the matches of breakthrough 2008/09 UEFA Champions League qualification against Icelandic Valur, Belgian Anderlecht and Bulgarian Levski. He also appeared as a substitute in the historical game against Real Madrid in Santiago Bernabeu coming in for Ihar Stasevich.

That match was the last one for Zhaunerchyk for FC BATE Borisov. After a minor dispute with the coaching staff Maksim moved to Russian FC Kuban Krasnodar. There Zhaunerchyk plays since 2009. There he continued progressing together with the team. In 2010 Kuban got promoted into the elite division of Russian football, where they are playing since then. And Maksim was an important part of the squad.

However, in 2014 he lost his first-team position and decided to accept another BATE invitation. The Yellow-Blues lost Zhaunerchyk's friend and fellow defender Anri Khagush, and this position was successfully filled up by Max in January 2015.
