Germans Māliņš: happy to keep a clean sheet

FC BATE goalkeeper Germans Māliņš commented on the game against FC Gomel won 2-0:

- We were determined to win. Any other result would not make us happy. The unlucky loss against FC Dinamo Minsk a week ago also made us concentrate on the win. I think it could be seen quite clearly we were determined to win. Only at the beginning of the game we had some minor troubles. But after the starting minutes we controlled the ball and did not let the opponents create much in front of our goal. We knew Gomel can counterattack well and use set-pieces marvelously. And it was hard to fight for aerial balls today. The weather was also difficult, although the pitch was prepared quite well for this time of the year.

I am happy I kept a clean sheet. It is very important for the team to win with any result, and for a goalkeeper it is always important not to concede. So I go on holidays in a very good mood.
