Chernik: we were given a benchmark

BATE goalkeeper Siarhei Chernik thinks the loss in Porto will help the team to develop.

- That was not the debut I expected in the UEFA Champions League. But this is what we have. Anyway life is not over now. We have the game against FC Dinamo Minsk ahead, five more European games. If I am chosen to play them, I will play and prove I deserve to be BATE's #1 goalkeeper.

It is hard to say how the episode in the 5th minute influenced the game. I take full responsibility for it. And the home side showed top level today. It is difficult to say how it is possible to prepare for such opponents. At least in Belarusian Championship this is impossible.

FC Porto really impressed and surprised. Its players did everything that modern players have to. Everyone knew where to run and what to do. A lot of goals came from our mistakes. The opponents used those opportunities brilliantly. We saw the level we have to reach. And we will do everything to make conclusions needed from this loss.

We are continue working. We'll try to prove in the coming games, that we got the opportunity to play in UCL group stage not in vain. This loss will become a great momentum for us. We are really angry in sports sense before Belarusian El Clasico against FC Dinamo Minsk.
