The beginning of the match was quite peaceful. The first moment for the fans to jump up happened only in the 7th minute when Jonas was trying to shoot from inside the box, but his attempt was blocked by BATE defenders.

The big troubles began for the Yellow Blues on 26th minute. A bad mistake in defence created a lot of space for himself in the box and without any marking on fired into the corner to make it 1-0. BATE just started from the centre circle again when received a penalty in their goal. Guardado was fouled in the box and Soldado was against faultless in taking a penalty. In the remaining time the Yellow Blues tried to come back into the game, but struggled in the attack.

The beginning of the second half it was 3-0 for Valencia. A blunder by Dzmitry Baha was the cornerstone for the goal. Gago picked up the goal to assist Feghouli who was confident to score another goal for Valencia.

The situation was difficult for BATE, but the team pulled together and continued to play. And in just two minutes broke the deadlock. Bressan scored from a free kick with Bordachev ducking in front of the keeper to make the situation even more unpredictable.

BATE came even closer after a mistake by Gago. Valencia midfielder got marked by three BATE players and lost the ball. Radzionau and Mazaleuski were quick to use the opportunity and score.

Unfortunately, it was Valencia who made the next move. Substitute Ever Banega made a fantastic pass to Feghouli who showed once again he could net the ball with confidence.

BATE lost 2-4 but remains in the battle for the knockout stage of the Champions League. The team from Borisov will play their next match on Sunday, 11 November against FC Minsk in the Belarusian Vysshaya Liga.

Mauricio Pellegrino (Valencia CF):
— Yes, I'm happy. These are three important points for us. We still have to play against Bayern here, and that will be the decisive game. The group is still not completely settled. If BATE win their next match they will be there, but we depend on ourselves.

I didn't like the goals we conceded tonight. Overall we played a disciplined match but if you make mistakes, BATE score goals. We are slowly finding positive details in the team, but there are things to improve. The crowd pushes us a lot and that helps us at the hardest times. This triumph is for everyone.

Viktar Hancharenka (FC BATE):
— As you can see from our performance, we continue to follow our own way no matter what. We play the way we can, the way we ask the lads to play. We made many mistakes in the middle of the park and they eventually lead to conceding goals. But I liked how we reacted after coming in 2-0 down at the end of the first half.
After the break we managed to draw level with Valencia, created enough chances and scored twice. Bayern produced a hell of a result. Now we are trailing Bayern and Valencia by three points. The next matchday will be decisive. Obviously we have to win that before the last match.

Before Sasha Hleb got tired he was very useful and effective and directed our attacks. Later on it became harder for him. But you have to assess the team as a unit and not just one single player. One has to consider the level of the other team and their resistance. Of course you always want to play as well as you can. We tried hard to create chances and we did find some and took a couple of them. But the level of the other side eventually told.
