The start of the
Belarusian Cup campaign turned out to be chaotic although successful.
The Yellow-Blues turned Last 32 encounter vs Energetic-BGU from Minsk
into a vast trial for Reserve team members with only a bit of help
from the first team.
It still mattered as
already after two minutes when Jasse Tuominen showed his exquisite
finishing skills after a pass by Uladzislau Mukhamedau. 1-0 was a
fair result for the first time with BATE in control for most of it.
Still Anton Chychkan had to save a couple of times.
Energetic-BGU
increased their pressure in the second half and ripped some reward.
They managed to equalize and created a couple of great chances while
BATE coaching staff made five substitutions sending a pack of
youngsters into the pitch.
That lead to some
loss of balance, but the team managed to live through to extra time.
It was a revival time for BATE. The Yellow-Blues were better and
quicker and managed to score soon after the third half started. Max
Valadzko made a good cross for substitute Ilya Sen to score his first
ever goal for the Borisovites. It also turned out to be a winner this
time.
Aliaksei BAHA (FC BATE Borisov Head Coach):
- We used some
rotation, gave a chance to young guys to play for the first team, and
to pick the players we used different parameters like amount of time
previously played, medical conditions. The guys understood everything
well and had the job done. Energetic were quite good, it is great
team that can play well and physically prepared. But we were prepared
for that. We have received a lot of information, and most of it is
positive.
