Talented half-back was born in Čačak, a Serbian town which also gave birth to two other prominent FC BATE players (Nemanja Milunović and Filip Mladenović). Like them, he started his footballing career training at local football club Borac. From 14 he was already footballing for Vojvodina and Novi Sad. Novi Sad turned out to become his first professional team. He made his debut in Serbian second division on 22 September 2007 in the home game against Mladenovac (1-0).

In summer 2009 he moved up to Serbian Superliga joining Spartak from Subotica, and in 2012 transferred to FC Dinamo Minsk of Belarus. He quickly became one of the leaders of the Blue-Whites where he spent three seasons grabbing silver (2014) and bronze medals (2012, 2013) of Belarusian Vysshaya Liga and contributed to Dinamo European success as in 2014/15 season the club qualified for UEFA Europa League group stage for the first time in his career. After that Slobodan played for Slovakian SK Slovan Bratislava (2015-16), Israeli Hapoel from Kfar Saba (2016-17) and Aktobe from Kazakhstan (second half of 2017). And in February 2018 he joined FC BATE Borisov.

'Everyone knows the goals BATE sets in every season. We are to play in a Group Stage of a UEFA tournament, preferably Champions League. I think if we show our best, we can do it. I know Russian quite well, studied the language in school and then played in Dinamo Minsk and Aktobe. I am sure language will not be a problem here at BATE', Simović said after signing.
