Zakhar Volkau leaves the camp of the Yellow-Blues – the central defender moves to the Russian FC Khimki, for which he already played in 2022 on loan.
Zakhar Volkau made his debut at FC BATE Borisov in 2018, and in his first season for our club he made an important contribution to winning the title for the Yellow-Blues. And he earned especially flattering marks at the finish line of the 2018/19 European Cup campaign. After the return of Zakhar to the squad, FC BATE had a powerful period in the Europa League. If in the home match with the English FC Chelsea our team lost the minimum 0:1, then in the next - with the Hungarian FC Vidi (2:0) and the Greek FC PAOK (3:1) - won. Taking second place in a strong group, the Borisov team made it to the 1/16 finals of the tournament, where London's FC Arsenal became their rival. Having given one of the best matches in his career, Volkau was directly involved in a high-profile home victory over the “Gunners” (1:0).
Volkau's benefit performance was the 2020 Cup of Belarus final against FC Dynamo Brest. Taking into account additional time, the stubborn duel lasted for 120 minutes. And when it seemed that a penalty shoot-out was inevitable, in the last attack of FC BATE, Zakhar turned out to be the most agile in someone else's penalty area - having hit the gates of the Brest team, he brought another trophy to our team.
This year, Volkau was the pivotal footballer of the FC BATE defense: he played 18 matches in the Yellow-Blues, while 17 of them played "from whistle to whistle".
FC BATE thanks Zakhar Volkau for his contribution to the achievements of our club and wishes him success in his future career!
